In 2021 The Jay Focus Group donated $500 to St. Paul's Elementary School in Barton a much needed weatherization project for two classrooms. Lowell Elementary School received $500 for yoga mats for upper grades for year-round exercise. In 2022 we supported the Town of Troy Skate Rink, United Christian Academy,
Leach Public Library and Troy PTSA

Grant on Request open to all Orleans County Schools & Non Profits

Apply for a Grant of up to $500 in a 12 month period from Dec 1 2022 thru Dec 1 2023 

for your 501 (c)3 Non Profit Organization or School located in Orleans County.
School examples: School Travel / Outings,  Music Programs, Sports / ExerciseEquipment etc.
During the 2G020 Covid Pandemic we purchased 4 picnic tables
for the Jay/Westfield Elementary School for outdoor learning. 
Other Non Profit examples: Rent, equipment, a special one time need.

Continuing Education Scholarships
for Orleans County High School Seniors

The  Jay Focus Group Community Service Continuing Education Scholarship  provides  funding to  a high school senior from Orleans County an opportunity to enhance their future through continued education with a scholarship to assist with educational costs which includes college 2/4 yr., trade school, as well as on-the-job training.
New for 2023 we are offering 3 types of scholarships thanks to an anonymous donor.

 

#1  JFG Group Community Service Scholarship (up to $500)

Open to all High School seniors from Orleans County continuing their education beyond High School   Requires previous Community Service involvement. Application must include a statement of your volunteer and/or community service activities performed  through an organization or on your own, either in or out of the school setting AND a letter of reference regarding your community service activity. (May not be a family member).
 

#2       JFG Volunteer Scholarship ($($1,000 a year for 4 yr. school or $2000 for 2 yr. School)

Open to all High School seniors in Orleans County who are planning to attend a 2-4 year continuing education program after graduation. This Scholarship is $1,000 a year for students attending a 4-year program or $2,000 a year for students attending a 2-year program. Primary criteria for selection: community service/volunteerism. Secondary criteria: Minimum high school GPA of 3.4. Award will be provided annually upon proof of successful completion of the first semester of each school year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. Application must include a statement of your volunteer and/or community service activities performed  through an organization or on your own,  in or out of the school setting, a letter of reference reg arding your community service activity AND a copy of your transcript showing your cumulative GPA
 

#3  JFG Financial Need Scholarship ($1,000 a year for 4 yr. school or $2000 for 2 yr. School)

Open to all Orleans County High School Seniors planning to attend a 2 or 4-year continuing education program after high school. This scholarship is $1,000 a year for a 4-year program or $2,000 a year for a 2-year program. Primary criteria for selection: Financial need. Secondary criteria: Minimum high school GPA of 3.4. Award will be provided annually upon proof of successful completion of the first semester of each school year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

Application must include a statement of why you need this scholarship and how it will help you with your future goals, Completion of Page 2 of the Scholarship application AND a copy of your transcript showing your cumulative GPA.


2023 Scholarship Results

The Jay Focus Group is pleased to announce that we have awarded 6 Orleans County Students continuing education scholarships for 2023.

4 Students will share $2500. Jay Focus Group Community Service Scholarship - Criteria: Seniors in Orleans County who plan to continue their education beyond high school and have demonstrated a commitment to helping others through volunteering their services either in or out of school or both.

A 5th student has been awarded the Jay Focus Group 4 year Volunteer Scholarship.

Amount: $1000 a year for 4 year program or $2000 a year for a 2 year program Criteria: Scholarship is given to an Orleans County senior who is planning on continuing his/her education after high school, has a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher and has shown exceptional participation in volunteering for a variety of Community Service projects either in or out of school or both. Funds will be awarded each year after proof of successful completion of one semester of a continuing education program with a GPA of 2.75..

A 6th student has been awarded the Jay Focus Group Financial Need 4 year Scholarship. $1000 a year for a four year program or $2000 a year for a 2 year program. Criteria: Scholarship is given to an Orleans County senior who has a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher and demonstrates the need for financial assistance in order to continue their education beyond high school. Funds will be awarded each year after proof of successful completion of one semester of a continuing education program with a GPA of 2.75.

Annual  Camp Scholarship program sends a student(s) from Orleans County to Camp for a  day or Week,
helping to create a Memory which will last a Lifetime!  Most camp offerings in VT are in the summer but there are a few winter ones as well. Home Schoolers welcome to apply. Partial Funding Available, Funds for transportation available. 
2023 Camp Applications are now available and due back no later than May 2, 2023

The Jay Focus Group is so pleased to announce that we have awarded 12 Orleans County children Summer Camp Scholarships totally $4000. The children range in age from 5 to 15 years old. They will be attending Kingdom Therapeutics, Lamoille County Players Theatre, Sisken’s CIT Program, Burke Mountain Intro to Mountain Biking, Sisken’s Residential Camp, Camp Memphremagog and the National Youth Leadership Forum, NVU Johnson Softball Camp

We thank all our volunteers and sponsors as well as all of you who purchased raffle tickets and participated in our 2023 Super Tag Sale. We are raising funds for 2024 Camp Scholarships via our "Roaring 20's Speakeasy Event, July 29" and Raffle Tickets.
